The Actor's Influence, Part 4: Influencing Your Creativity
In our quest to be in alignment to book, and to determine what influence the actor has over his or her career, we’ve covered the following topics. We started with moving from a reactive state to a proactive one, which includes taking responsibility for your own happiness and success. We talked about the clarity of what you project, which is bringing together the strengths of who you are with how others see you. We also discussed bringing consciousness to your level of skill, which involves your choices and the execution of those choices. Now we will discuss where the choices come from that make your work fresh and unique. This involves bringing more consciousness to your level of creativity and the influence you have over it.

The Actor's Influence, Part 3: Level of Skill
No matter what your level of skill, it takes dedication, determination, hard work, and consistency to maintain the tools needed to be successful as an actor. Without the tools, called upon on demand, an actor will have difficulty competing in this marketplace. Auditions become more about luck than about being ready to showcase your talent based on what is being asked of you by a casting director or director.

The Actor's Influence, Part 2: What You Project...
In this article we are going to start to discuss some of the things that are actually in the actor’s realm of influence. What you do have influence or some control over. What are some things you can do to take charge of your career and happiness? We are going to start with what you project to other people and how we can influence this by defining our image more specifically. Later we’ll discuss your level of skill, your creativity, your knowledge of the business, will power, your self-esteem, intention, assertiveness, living with purpose and integrity.

The Actor's Influence
If we do the same thing, if we take the same action or a variation of the same action and get the same unwanted result each time, something must change. Some new information has to be taken in to supply some new action or a change in perception. If we fail to do this we can’t help but fall into a state of helplessness and frustration, which can easily lead to a state of depression where all forward action is stopped. To occasionally feel frustrated and helpless is normal for anyone in any business, but a constant feeling of frustration and helplessness is an actor’s occupational hazard. The constant bombardment of these feelings creates a wall between you and what you really want to accomplish. These two feelings are quite insidious and act upon us, with or without our acknowledgment. They steal our excitement, our energy and most of all our self-esteem.
